Raiffeisen Banking Group Tyrol
A cosy front room with tables and chairs: that was the venue for Tyrol’s first Raiffeisen bank. The room in Widum von Oetz, from 1888 onwards
home to the ‘1. Raiffeisensche Darlehenskasse’ (1st Raiffeisen Credit Union), remains virtually unaltered to this day. The chairman and
paymaster sat at the table next to a small stove and a strongbox made by the manufacturer Adlersflügel, listening to the concerns of their
members, which they then presented as necessary to the management board. Thus began the now 125-year-old success story of the Tyrolean
Raiffeisen banks.
